As an Executive Director of Cushman & Wakefield’s Investment Sales team, Aaron D. Johnson specializes in office, retail, and industrial property investment sales, combining his years of experience as an owner/principal and broker to provide a true big-picture, both-sides-of-the-table perspective to investors in Colorado and across the west. His 18+ years of commercial real estate experience include acquisitions, dispositions, recapitalizations, financing, and development, and he has closed more than $1B in transactions since 2014 alone.
As an experienced principal investor, Aaron understands the process of building a deal from the ground up. He’s able to speak the same language as his clients, staying responsive to their needs, goals, and concerns from capital raising through financing, marketing, and long-term value creation. Authentic, relatable, accessible, and driven, Aaron is proud of his ability to align and collaborate with clients, creating value and relationships that extend beyond the transaction. Both clients and colleagues appreciate Aaron’s clear-headed, no-ego approach to getting deals done, bringing creativity, strategy, resilience, and a true team-player mentality.
Prior to teaming with Jon Hendrickson in 2014, Aaron was a Partner and Vice President of Investments with Etkin Johnson Real Estate Partners. Aaron led the firm’s strategic investment and financing initiatives and was responsible for sourcing acquisition and development opportunities along Colorado’s Front Range. He completed 50+ transactions while at Etkin Johnson, including acquisitions, dispositions, recapitalizations, and financing with total consideration of more than $450M across 9,000,000 SF. Aaron earned his bachelor’s degree in Finance and Real Estate Certificate from the Leeds School of Business at the University of Colorado Boulder. He is a member of several professional and civic organizations, including the National Association of Office and Industrial Properties (NAIOP), Urban Land Institute (ULI), Downtown Denver Partnership, and the University of Colorado Real Estate Council (CUREC). At CUREC, Aaron also mentors upcoming graduates and assists them with job placement.
Denver native Aaron has always felt fortunate to call Colorado home. He makes an effort to spend time outside as often as possible, which means you’ll often find him skiing, mountain biking, fishing, or hiking. Early on, Aaron’s parents taught him the value of the perspective-broadening experience of global travel; nowadays, he and his wife do their best to emulate that experience with their own kids.
